A quilt for Taelynn:

I decided I would start making each of my great-nieces/nephews a quilt when they got baptized
(age 8). This one was for my oldest great-niece.
The pattern is Wild Things by Thimble Blossoms, but for the life of me I can't remember the fabric line (if anyone knows, please comment), Backed with luxorious coral colored minky and bound with black and white stripe. I <3 bindings="" out="" snuggly="" so="" stripe="" this="" turned="">

The Mape Leaf Rag Finish!

This wasn't my 1st finish during my blogging break, but definately my most monuments!
I haven't took this baby out for her photo shoot yet, but I have snapped a few pics since her finish.

K, so those are mostly of my beautiful children. As soon as the snow and mud dries up I will get the pictures my Maple Leaf Rag deserves ;).

Testing, testing... Is this thing on?

Oh my! Where do I start??? I apologize for my silence but I've been working on this:

Ya, it's been an eventful 2 years.

I am excited to be blogging again, I have a lot to share with you! Yes, I've even had time for some sewing, and when I say some sewing, I mean more sewing than EVER!

Anyway, it's good to be back and stay tuned for some fun stuff <3 p="">

WIP Wednesday {Maple Leaf Rag} II

This is the second WIP Wednesday of my Maple Leaf Rag. (You can see the first here ). I know what you're thinking... it doesn't look that much different. I can't get it all in the pic, also it's very time consuming. But I still love every minute of it! I never want it to end :).
At the moment this is my favorite "web"... It's not sewn together yet, so it looks a little off but I can assure you it won't be ;).
Thanks for dropping in!

Sydney's Snuggler

I made this snuggler for my niece {in between praying}.
My Sis-in-law went to her {routine} 35 week Doctor appt,
were she was sent directly to the hospital for admittance on Wednesday {3/14}.
The baby was in distress and my Sis-in-law was showing signs of labor.
The plan was to give her steroid shots Wednesday and Thursday
{to speed development of the baby's lungs}
and get the baby out by inducing labor on Friday {3/16}.
At 5:00 pm Friday, Sydney came into this world {via C-section}.
It has been an emotional roller coaster the past 10 days.
Our baby is still in the NICU and we are praying our knees off.
Sydney Joliet
5 lbs 4oz
18 inches
The pattern is from Simple Sewing for Baby,
I made it in an evening {even with 100 distractions, Mom please get me this, Mom can I do that, etc.}
The hardest part of the pattern was the velcro placement, with my alterations it came out PERFECT!...
Just like this little girl, PERFECT!!!

Here are a few pictures before our sweet bundle was here...
I had to bribe Carson to let me use one of his stuffed animals
to model a "baby thing". You should have heard the objections :)!

a {belated} birthday present

i made these sprocket pillows as a gift for my BFF. i'm not gonna admit when her birthday was, let's just say they were a very belated birthday present! (good thing we both think belated gifts are fun) ;)
and like her wedding quilt, couldn't post until the man in brown delivers it to her ranch in Montana.

i used this pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew.
(i've made these pillows a handful of times and for some reason
i have to adjust the center strip to 48 1/2" for the large pillow
and 41" for the small pillow everytime)
sometimes i'm just browsing the isles at the fabric store,
minding my business
when a fabric jumps out at me and screams ALISHA!
that was the case in the wedding quilt fabric
as well as the fabric for these pillows.

happy {belated} birthday leesh!

WIP Wednesday {Maple Leaf Rag}

It is still Wednesday... right? (Well, for a few more hours anyway)
When I saw Megan post her Maple Leaf Rag back when it was a WIP,
I knew I had to make one too :). Go to her blog! You're gonna flip!
If you haven't checked out Material Obsession 2,
I hightly recommend you do so! I bought it last time I was at Quiltique
(before no fabric February).
Here is mine... I'm about 1/3 way there and lovin' EVERY minute of it!

The pattern has you cut 1/2 squares from quilters muslin. I didn't follow that part of the pattern (I'm wild, I know ;)...) because I predicted the seams of the webs wouldn't line up that way. Also, that would make it SO thick, as you all know I'm a hand quilter and I prefer my thickness in batting. FLUFFY, just like me! Haha! Anyway, I'm glad I did it this way, cause my seams are lining up PERFECTY!

Do you like my set up?... My Flea Market Fancy Quilt has got my design wall occupied right now, so I'm using card tables :)

Well, there she is... is it Friday yet? I wanna sew!!!

WIP Wednesday {Flea Market Fancy Quilt}

Ok, so I'm obsessed with the Flea Market Fancy fabric line...
I'm working on this beauty, and I'm in L.O.V.E!
I had been collecting this fabric for sometime now, waiting for the perfect pattern...
Then last year, while standing in the check-out line at Safeway, I spotted the Feb 2011 issue of "American Patchwork & Quilting" the angels in the heavens started singing! I knew it was the one.
{The pattern/kit is American Jane if you'd like to check it out.}
 It's growing and growing... so much that I needed to lay my design board horizontal
 Even the Daschund is in love <3
I've been paying up to $30/ fat quarter and putting myself through bidding wars on ebay for anything I could get my hot little hands on...
Then, a few months ago I was notified that Pink Castle Fabric would be selling reprint,
(geez, now ya tell me!) so I have more coming in March :)! I probably have enough on hand to complete the queen size quilt, but it will be nice to have the wiggle room.
In the meantime my design wall has the"no vacancy" light on.

Finish Friday {Ranch Quilt}

I made this as a gift for My Guy's Sister and Brother-in-law's
25th Wedding Anniversary
I completed this quilt in December
(while I was doing these, crazy, I know!).
Their Silver Anniversary Celebration with
friends and family was at their ranch in Colorado.
I shipped in plenty of time and they opened it at thier party.
This quilt was out of my comfort zone...
I generally steer clear of batik's, but I wanted a rustic-ranchy feel.
I think I got just that! I really love how it turned out :).

{Work in progress}
You may not kow this about me, but I hand-quilt all my quilts.
Yes, good old-fashioned quilt frames and needle and quilting thread.
I just love the "puff" of a hand quilted quilt... SO SOFT!
Waiting for binding
{See the beauty she's lying on?... stay tuned!}
I hand stitched this label (that light bulb is their company logo)
Brown minky on the back <3!

I know this quilt will get lots of cuddle time by the fireplace.

American Girl Beds {made by me}

I have 5 {great} nieces
{+2 more coming this Spring}
The oldest is 7 and the youngest is 1
The older 4 are in love with American Girls
and Santa had confirmed delivery.
I asked the girls their absolute favorite color and Auntie got busy!
I'm not one to brag about my work, but these turned out FAR cuter than I could have EVER imagined!
I bought the beds here and was more than happy with the beds and the service (they gave me a deal on the shipping cause I was buying 5).
Sorry for the picture overload... I just can't help myself ;)

Taelynn's
Scrappy ticker-tape pattern

Adilynn's
Hand stitched heart

Gabrielle's
Tumbler pattern w/ her name hand stitched

Stella's
Star pattern

Isabelle's
Cheveron pattern. She's only one year old and when she received it she was laying in it :). She LOVES the little pillow and insists on sleeping with it. Too cute!

 And there they are... getting their "rest"... they're gonna need it!
 I even made American Girl gift tags :).
{I gave these to the girls at the Family Christmas Party}
I enjoyed every minute of making these.
There is love in every stitch!
With 2 more baby girls coming in 2012, I'll be doing it again and
I CAN'T WAIT!
